No Effort Is Wasted¹

On day four of webite-making, the motivation starts to fade and the discipline takes over.

I start to wonder what I'm doing, why I'm doing this. I lose track of the inspiration that has gotten me this far.

I've written a few ~deep~ blogs, I've seeded a few pages with some starter information. I've incremented the styling and remembered the long-unused HTML in the back of the tool shed.

Now the effort and the discipline become the driver. Now, I put in the work in to actually learn and build.

Not everything is going to be perfect, and that's okay. Not everything is going to be the "correct" path to where this ends up, and that's okay too.

Every effort I put into this are skills that I learn. Some of those skills will end up in my toolshed, others will get used, and I won't know which is which until the future comes.

Wherever the effort ends up, it won't be wasted, because everything I put into it is building me. Learning which paths in my garden that I don't want to keep building is still learning.

I'm not tied to any path in my garden. I can wander. I can abandon paths and start new ones. Having lots of little paths is nice. A whole lot nicer than putting in no effort, no garden paths at all.
