The Doing Won

I found myself in a pretty sour mood this afternoon. I went straight for a nap as soon as I was free for the day.

Needless to say, the inspiration was lacking as I started my evening.

So far, I had been starting out these blogs before I moved on to learning, to try to gather what inspiration I could wherever I found it that day and boil it down into my own words and my own meaning.

Today, I jumped right into the learning. The discipline actually won. And after learning for a good while this evening, my mood has improved by a lot.

Doing the thing I thought I'd least want to do helped me. I think this idea applies to a lot of things in life: eating healthy, exercise, socializing, doing the hard thing.

(I've definitely heard some of my favorite creators talk about this idea, but it'd be tough to find a single source at this point.)

I'm amazed that the discipline and routine to sit down and code and learn kicked in today and that doing the thing I didn't want to do actually helped me.

My current self can help my future self by making better choices. My current self can be grateful for and benefit from my past self.
