Time to Wander

In my learning practice, I have found myself stuck on an achievement-seeking path - thinking I would go through an entire Python tutorial and all of its offshoots top to bottom.

However, this isn't the right strategy. I want to be more mindful about where I spend my time.

Sure, I can commit to longer stretches of learning one topic deeply; but it will serve me better to take a step back once in a while to decide "Should I keep putting more effort in this path? What about some of my other paths? Is it time to branch off or start a new one?"

Bringing back the gardening analogy, it's time to wander1 the garden and choose a new path. Lengthening and widening a path has its time and place, but so does venturing onto new paths. Mindful decisions are key.

Yesterday's post2 about flow state didn't hold on through today - another social situation, this time with a negative outcome. I'm sure that human interations are constantly influencing my state of mind, but having written these posts, the extent of the effect has become much more clear.

I want to be more in charge of my own mentality. I need to believe in myself first. I need to mindfully choose and build my own paths to get to the place I want to be, not only in learning, but in life.
