It's Out Of My Hands

I've had to make decisions and take actions recently that have been less than pleasant. Lots of worry, thought, and option-weighing.

After seeing one of those decisions through today, I have a much greater sense of relief and calm. It's not over yet, but I've done what I can. (It helps, too, that the people involved in this particular step were incredibly kind.)

The sudden calm took me by surprise. I realized it's out of my hands, there's nothing more I can do at this point.

I can't find the exact source for it, but I need to remember this concept more often: Worrying about something beyond what is needed to make a decision will not change the outcome. It will only cause the time in between to become less pleasant. I can take control of my own mind and intentionally choose to redirect my inner experience.

It's reminded me to rewatch some of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's videos1,2 to remember and practice how to find inner peace and calm. Movement and mindfulness are the antidotes to rumination
