Movement

I'm not terribly unfit, but exercize is one aspect of life that I've struggled to be consistent with. I want to get better about it, especially now with my daily learning taking up most of my free time.

I want to prioritize my fitness above my learning. Body has to be good to support the mind. I'm going to write out a plan tonight for exercizing. I want to include cardio, strength training, and flexibility. I want to mix it up to keep it interesting. I want to add mental elements to it, like learning new exercizes, learning how to use some confusing-looking equipment in the gym, and going bouldering to combine fitness with problem-solving.

I've had exercize habits that have stuck (for a while) in the past, but I usually get thrown off when something stressful happens or when I miss a day. I tend not to be able to recover the habit after a blip. I don't have some grand solution to that, but I think the point is that I keep trying again when I can (like now, creating a new plan).

Now that the weather should be getting cooler as we work our way towards fall, going for a run or long weekend bike rides should be more pleasant experiences. I've been meaning to try a weekday evening at the nearby bouldering gym, which is normally packed on the weekends. There's a new bouldering gym a bit further away that I wanted to check out, too.

Then I can spend the rest of my free time coding and learning. New exercize habits come first.
