I've been thinking about priorities today. Life has felt very Squidwardian1 lately, with every day being the same.
I haven't taken vacation time in a few months and definitely need a break, but daily life is also not feeling very aligned with thriving. Sure, I'm eating decently, sleeping decently, exercizing, keeping up with my health, but beyond that, there's not much going on.
Earlier this year I challenged myself to leave my apartment and do something in the community every day. During that month, I ended up going to a lot of local shows, plays, pop-up markets, comedy, concerts, and other events in the community. I think I'd like to get back into that habit to some degree, because otherwise I mostly spend my evenings mindlessly consuming media. Doing that every day might have been a bit too tiring, but I do want to get into the habit of proactively looking up and attending community events, and get back into volunteering once the weather cools down more.
In addition to those one-off events, I want to establish more routine in community by attending the same recurring events regularly. Pottery is helping with this, but I want to expand my connections with others to a greater extent; for example I've been meaning to get into indoor bouldering again or go to a board game event regularly.
It's pretty clear that what is lacking is human connection. This is becoming harder for humans overall as the internet takes over more of our lives. Intentionally breaking away from it and seeking community in real life is going to be increasingly difficult, but increasingly more important.
Explicitly stating for myself the things I want to do regularly - not all at once, but to remind myself to make progress where I can:
