Yesterday1 I wrote about not needing to write about something happening today. Turns out I was right, there was no need to turn my attention to it then. Dwelling about something in the future, beyond what is needed to prepare, is unnecessary.

Today turned out nice. Had I dwelled on today yesterday, I would have missed thinking about the nice cloudy weather blocking out the hot sun. I would have missed choosing to skip the bus, enjoying the weather on a long walk home, listening to a podcast about hyenas1, pausing to watch some butterflies and squirrels and birds along the way, and stopping for lemonade and a rest at a cute little casual restaurant. The Thing that happened today was a short hour-long blip, and it wasn't even all that bad.
Daily writing is forcing me to sit and think and reflect. It's nice, and it's making some of the inspirations stick.
